We
wanted to buy a house in Spain and after doing some web research and
based on a visit many, many years ago, decided on Almuñécar. We posted
an email request with WiseMovetoSpain and had a very rapid and helpful
response from Nick Westby who found out more about what we wanted, and
made arrangements for us to view properties in the short period we had
to visit Almuñécar last Christmas.
We
loved Almuñécar even though we hit a wet patch, there were still really
hot periods even in December! As we were both working in demanding
full-time jobs at that time, we needed someone to do the legwork for us
and who we could trust on the ground in Almuñécar. Nick arranged visits
to various houses and once we settled on wanting a townhouse in the old
town, Nick contacted all the other agents and rang all the sale by
owners and arranged all the appointments. He helped negotiate a great
deal, helped us to complete legalities such as our tax and NIE
registration and found us a trustworthy, inexpensive lawyer, and
arranged great banking and currency exchange experts that saved us a
small fortune. We would have found it overwhelming to have managed all
this without Nick, and whilst still working in the UK. We
are retired now and have made lots of friends and contacts in Almuñécar
and absolutely love the area. We still keep in touch with Nick and
know that he is always there to provide us with further contacts and
advice if we need it.
